Black beer brewed

The black beer of Black Beer Brewing is now on tap at Absolute Homebrew, shop 7 rear 40 Phillip St, St Marys NSW 2760. If you are handy, pop by and have a taste. I will welcome any comments about the beer. The vital question is, of course: Would people pay $57 or so for a carton of it?

  1. Jim Woodworth says:

Yes Pat, I always agree with you. Have you ever tried Gales Horndean special bitter?….Jim

  2. Pat says:

Jim, if I say no I haven’t tried Gales Horndean Bitter does that mean you will agree to get me a bottle?

  3. Tim Arrell says:

It’s quite dark but surprisingly crisp and clean. The hopping is well balanced, maybe a little light on the bittering but a nice gentle spicy finish.

  4. Brad White says:

I thought it was great! The longer you drank it the more chocolate and spice flavours there were. After letting a sip settle, you wanted another. I might not drink it on a very hot day, but it would be a great spring/autumn.winter BBQ beer.

  5. Pat says:

Thank you Tim. It’s meant to be a black session/drinking beer so I think it’s better to keep the bitterness in check so that it does not build up.

  6. Pat says:

And thank you Brad. I like beers which reveal themselves gradually. They can be enjoyed both by a casual drinker, or at least in a casual setting, and someone who wants to take a more considered approach to the beer.
